I visited another 22 nests today, 130 miles, and found birds on all but about three nests. I have now read bands on 37 nests. I have found three nests that are incubating. I am sure that will change daily now. The most interesting thing today was all the eagles making life tough for the ospreys. At one nest I saw an adult bald eagle soaring very high above a pair of ospreys on their nest. Suddenly, he pulled his wings into a tight tuck and began to dive straight down at the ospreys, full tilt, pulling up just before he hit the nest. Wow, the ospreys scattered and then took chase...escorted him out of the territory, dive bombing and footing him the whole way. Quite a show of aggression. I also came home to find a lovely financial donation to the project.
